Shiver me Timberlands! Knicks defeat the Celtics in 6 at MSG!
The Knicks put on the defensive game of a lifetime defeating the Celtics 81-119 and head back to the Eastern Conference Finals for first time in 25 years .
First, let me say it’s great to be on the mend! I have had some serious surgeries in the past year, the last at the end of April. Although I am feeling better day by day, I will be shutting down “Miss Tee on Women’s Sports” for the time being. I am so grateful to my Father for healing and being here! Enough of that. Now, let’s get to getting it!
I can admit when I’m wrong, and I was wrong!
Am I the only one who didn’t know about this version of the Knicks? C’mon, that Game 6? If the Knicks had played that way during the regular season, they would have had a 60+ game-winning season.
But I owe an apology to Tom Thibodeau. He has outcoached the two coaches he’s faced so far in these playoffs. He has made adjustments - coming back from 20 down, twice! God forbid if the Knicks go no further…he has earned my respect.
Well, well, well…if it isn’t the Boston Celtics…
Not one ESPN, FS1, or streaming service analyst believed the Knicks had a snowball’s chance in hell to defeat the Celtics. Truthfully, I didn’t think the Knicks had a chance to get out of the Detroit series. But, boy, was I wrong, so wrong.
Not only were the analysts wrong, but so were the Celtics. The Celtics had dreams of repeating, and no Knicks team would get in the way of that. The Celtics' analysis showed the ratio of the number of threes attempted to the number of threes missed, multiplied by the number of players and 48 minutes, divided by whatever, would result in …getting their butts kicked! There would not be any beating the Knicks down like they did in the regular season…
No one knew…
No one told Tom Thibodeau he couldn’t coach, and the New York Knicks didn't heed the analytics, because the Knicks sent the defending champs home in six games…
No one told Mikal Bridges that he couldn’t snatch the ball from Jaylen Brown at the end of overtime in game one, or that he couldn’t block Jayson Tatum’s shot at the end of game two. Both actions cemented the wins in those games. No one told him he would ball out in that postseason series.
No one told Mitchell Robinson that he couldn’t be a better, more athletic, scarier shot blocker and rim protector, hemming people in corners, Mitchell Robinson…
No one told Josh Hart that he would withstand having his nuts grabbed, his eye bloodied and cut open, or his head jammed into an underarm…or that he would get a triple-double in game 6 (10 points, 11 rebounds, 11 assists), matching only Walt Frazier, who had one during the 72-73 Knicks championship season.
No one told any of them. Jalen Brunson wasn’t told his legacy would be cemented as one of the postseason’s greatest clutch players and one of the greatest Knicks. OG Anunoby will surely be on everyone’s radar as one of the best defensive players in the league.
Prayers for Tatum
At the 3:08 mark of the fourth quarter, game four, while trying to grab an errant ball, Jason Tatum lunged and ruptured his Achilles. Film and photos were shown ad nauseam of the Celtics superstar screaming in pain. The wheelchair photo was the most egregious to me.
How many times must his family, especially his son, have to be exposed to his father’s agony?
Fans and players alike were stunned by Tatum’s Achilles rupture and sent up prayers and well wishes for a speedy recovery and return to the game.
Miss Tee…
I am so tired of the sour grapes on social media and from so-called superstar players (Paul Pierce) who think the Knicks “got lucky.”
What I know is that this team—the team that came out for Game 6—is the team I was expecting all season… Well, better late than never.
Also, why are people trying to pretend that the Knicks had Brunson, Donte DiVicenzo, Miles “Deuce” McBride, and Isaiah Hartenstein left standing by that seventh game last season? Even then, Brunson broke his hand.
And the antics of the Pacers players trolling the fans outside the Garden after that game…
Payback is a bitch…
Until next time…
