You can't fire him now, can you?
There's no way that Tom Thibodeau will ever, ever get this team past the second round of the playoffs...but that's too late to know for this season.
With a 33-point lead on the worst team in the National Basketball Association, and with less than eight minutes left in the fourth quarter, the Washington Wizards have outscored the New York Knicks 44-13 to get to within four of tying this game.
Even a win will not wash this taste out of my mouth. Every time I pick up my laptop and start a piece, something worse happens and I sit the laptop down to quell my feelings. OG Anunoby has gone coast to coast and sent the Knicks back up by 14. He has been the 212 million-dollar man when this team has needed him. Even with the hot hand, he hasn’t always had the ball. Thank goodness lately he has demanded his dominance.
What happens to this team?
I need answers. It’s as if someone turned off the light switch. They are blind, deaf and dumb. Even if their coach is making assinine plays, they should use their common sense. Again, the Wizards are the worst team in the NBA! They came back from 33 points down to four. A little 20 year old who looks like he’s 12, along with former Boston Celtic Marcus Smart, nearly caused the Knicks the worst loss in Knicks history. Yeah, worse than Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks.
Back to the game for a minute…
The crowd is chanting for PJ Tucker. Tucker is looking down the bench, incredulous that Thibs has not put him in. Thibs has cleared the bench but still no Tucker. He never put Tucker in. Stubborn as hell…Too late to fire him now, isn’t it?
What happens to a team with a coach like Thibs, up by 33 in the third quarter? They stand in shock as the worst team in the NBA makes seven out of 12 from the three-point line.
Third quarter misery
First quarter and third quarter miseries have turned the once defensive feared Knicks into a joke. The Knicks third quarter team, are now similar to an amusement park game. Wack-o-mole turns to Swish-o-mole as three-pointer after three-pointer goes through the opponents net. This game was no different.
The Wizards attempted 12 from beyond the arc and made seven of them. In one quarter. Talk about your Tom Thibodeau perimeter defense plan! The Knicks attempted six three-pointers and made one. Remember when the Knicks were the “Third quarter of doom” team.
The Wizards scored 35 points in the quarter and the lead was cut to 16.
So what the Knicks won
What does it mean for a third seeded team to defeat the worse team in the league after getting a 33 point lead cut to four…4! I’m serious as a heart attack it gives me no pleasure that the Knicks won this game! It should send up red flags to all of their fans! This is it! Jalen Brunson returning is not going to get this team to the Eastern Conference Finals and definitely not to the Finals…what once was a dream has come crashing down to reality!
So freaking what the Knicks won this game! I believe wholeheartedly that if Cam Payne had not hit that three to wake up hiss teammates, the Knicks might have lost this game. It was the three and the crowd chanting for de-fense, that woke this team from it’s stupor to come back and win the game.
There are no end of game stats here. Why? So what. Mikal Bridges went nuts, scored 24 points in the first half…against the worse team in the league.
Do y’all even like each other?
Seriously. The feeling from last season is gone. The way the Knicks commanded the court even without most of their players. No Julius Randle, Mitchell Robinson and OG Anunoby.
Y’all are not playing like a team, like a brotherhood and until you get that right, see you next season, because it’s a first round exit for you, and truthfully I can’t wait for the season to end. Yeah, I said what I said, and here’s why.
Tom Thibodeau will not get the Knicks past the second round.
If you have any belief that the Knicks are a championship contender this season, let it go. Look at them! They are always tired. Looking drained most games. Mikal Bridges says playing all those minutes “are not fun” on the body…so what does Thibs do, use only eight players for the second game of a back to back. What is he saying to his players? Forget being tired…do it anyway, the Thibs way.
Not using vets, especially in the second half, when the “tired as hell” starters could use a break and our young bench players could use the leadership.
Not using Tyler.
Once this season is over, he must be gone! There are no more players to trade to save you Thibs!
Miss Tee…
I know you’re saying “Miss Tee been talking since word one.” It’s true. I’m tired y’all. This front office traded away everybody. Watching them grow and thrive on other teams is depressing because that’s the team that should get the gold. I know there is probably not one Knicks fan who agrees with me. But it wasn’t the players altogether. It was Thibs, too. What happened? Why aren’t people more up in arms about this, why can’t y’all see by now that this is not working! He is not working!
Unfortunately it was the only mistake of this front office. Keeping Thibs. Doesn’t it bother you to see Johnny Bryant sitting next to Kenny Atkinson? I remember when it was time for Leon Rose to choose the coach. It was between Thibs, Atkinson and some thought that horrid Becky Hammon, but nah! But Thibs was and is part of this little Brunson family with Rose.
Don’t you remember the Chicago Bulls team that should have won a championship. Derrick Rose should have a legacy of MVPs and championships. Not one of serious injuries because he was run into the ground. I don’t want to hear the “but he played for Thibs on all his teams.” Did he get a championship despite the Bulls being a championship caliber team?
Thibs will always be the “coach who got them to the playoffs after a number of years”…but '“coach who got them a championship.” Never. His players won’t make it.
Until next time…
It’s the silly season in this year’s NBA. Teams have made the playoffs and not much at stake for position in the playoffs. Teams are tanking and there’s not much at stake for positions in the lottery. They are not playing well because nothing’s at stake. Just marking time until the games matter and trying to stay healthy. Meanwhile a team out of it that gets a chance to do well against a top team and in MSG - they have motivation to play all out. Stay patient Ms T. Meaningful games for the Knicks will soon be upon us. Then we can judge the players, front office and coaching staff with more confidence.
